I have been struggling as a small business owner (2020), as to how and why I can keep my business open.  Its been an exhausting year and frankly there are days when I just would prefer to call it quits…but I don’t.  I don’t because I have gone back to the roots of why I opened in the first place back in 2010.  I opened to give back to the community with Art, to open the doors of creativity to everyone who walks in and to make a comfortable and enjoyable space to spend time with family and friends!

Over the past 11 years I have seen so many great interactions with customers and their families and its because we offer a place to use your creativity (yes EVERYONE is creative) keep both hands busy (set down the cell phone) and create conversation.

I have 2 grown children and we actually did sit down to a family dinner and chat when they were younger.  Cell phones were only an up and coming device and there was no  social media to peruse or friends posts to analyze.  That is no longer the case.  Even when we have our kids to dinner or go out they are gazing at their phones…OK, to be honest my husband and I fall into that too.  Its sad but what can you do??

It surprising what ART can do to help.  With painting you MUST put down your phone to hold your brush and your piece.  You MUST focus on your piece and the colors in front of you.  You MUST think about where your going to put the colors and how you would like to apply them.  You MAY EVEN ask your mom or dad what they think of the colors you chose.  It MAY EVEN start a conversation on why you chose to paint the Honey Pot or the Dog or the Plain Mug.  Its amazing to see what can come of the couple of hours spent together…truly AMAZING.  Its sounds dramatic but its real…and thats why I must continue the fight to stay open!

I have attached a couple of interesting articles below, there are 100’s more!  We would love to see more of those break throughs in communication in the years to come!!
