My purpose for this blog was to inspire.  To stress the importance of creativity in all of our lives, especially during difficult times.  And then I forgot to follow it!

Creativity induces positive health effects, including on the heart. In a recent study, researchers provided almost forty people with art supplies such as markers and paper, and told them to create anything they wanted over a period of 45 minutes. The scientists discovered that no matter the artistic experience of the participants, about 75 percent experienced a decrease in their levels of cortisol, a hormone that the body secretes to respond to stress. “Everyone is creative and can be expressive in the visual arts when working in a supportive setting,” explained one of the researchers.

This stress study is instructive because it implies that many of us could benefit from art therapy. Just like physical exercise, creative stimulation engages and focuses our minds on the task at hand — and distracts us from feelings of stress and anxiety.  ~ Entrepreneur Magazine

Consider sitting down with an adult coloring book, pack or markers or blank journal.  If you have children at home make sure you have them do this during their online studies.  Take a mental break and just doodle.

Hand lettering has been a great option for me!!  Check this one out:  The Guide to Mindful Lettering.

Due to the length of so many states being shut down and the incredible losses Small Businesses have had maybe look into a local small business that offers take home painting kits or other options.  Here is what we offer in my studio but there are many places that could help you use creativity for stress relief!!
